The adventure is in the discovery in the manifestation of culture from any place in time. Bear witness to moments, places, and valuables which are nothing short of miraculous.I was demonstrating to local bedoin desert dwellers how to snowboard on a sandboard in the ancient and mysterious White Desert, I slipped and took a wicked spill.I dislocated my clavicle, tearing all three tendons. I spent much of my vacation dealing with my splintered shoulder. I made this 'no problem.' Here's a brief look at my journey. 24.5 million people live here, a coexistence of extraordinary measures. Throw out your expectations for what you expect a city of being. Scooters, tuk-tuks, mopeds, beasts of burden, broken cars, and busses. Everyone is seemingly on the go. Highways are just a place, just as anywhere. Sure, your donkey can pull your wagon full goods down a seven lane highway. As an American in a foreign place, tourism requires armed protection.This is Cairo. Endlessly captivating.The construction of new highways required existing housing to literally be semi-demolished. These standing apartment buildings were cut away, revealing the interior walls within, in order to make way for new highways. A view of a modern stone quarry. Just outside Cairo is some of the most iconic Egyptian wonders you can imagine.The first pyramids were stepped in a ziggurat-fashion. This early-era landmark for the afterlife set the standard for pharaohs for the next 3,000 years!Bow down in reverence when visiting the tombs of pharaohs. These low entries made certain you bow when entering.Amazing architecture.There's mystery as to how old the sphinx could be. It certainly has not lost any charisma due to the passage of time.
