“It is wrong and immoral to seek to escape the consequences of one’s acts.”
― Mahatma Gandhi
My head hurts…
I have a question for you today.
What ever happened to personal responsibility?
Is anyone responsible for their situation or what happens to them anymore?
Blame, blame, blame somebody else!
The professor gave me an F. NO you gave yourself an F. Did you study?
The cop gave me a ticket for speeding. NO you were doing 50 in a 35 you gave yourself a ticket.
My boss fired me. NO you did not do your job; you fired yourself.
I’m fat, the food companies make bad food. NO you eat everything in sight; you made yourself fat.
We are now a society that does not take personal responsibility for anything.
It seems that owing your shit is out of style. This is dangerous my friends. How do you improve if you don’t take responsibility and correct what is wrong? And if you don’t improve, how does society improve? This behavior allows those that act this way to do what they want without an ounce of accountability, and it makes way for the decline of civilization.
I know that sounds extreme, but take a look around you. We are decriminalizing crimes now. This is a partly a result of the lack of responsibility.
It’s not a good situation.
My friends – own your mistakes. They are truly yours and however bad they are, they provide valuable lessons. Lack of accountability does not allow you to right wrongs or improve!
Please my friends – own it!
It’s liberating. You will find a new found respect! You will be in the minority and in a good one at that. Forgiveness, self improvement, satisfaction will all be yours. Oh, and you will be doing all of us a service.
Now go get it! And know you will make mistakes along the way.
The great ones own them and keep on keepin’ on!
This article is a refresher course in responsibility!! It’s well written, impressive and perfect.
Estevez hit it out of the park. Bravo for his insight and no non sense approach
Well done Estevez!!
